It was the tale of two separate teams, not halves. We missed
opportunities in the first half and that always come back to bite in the
end. We gave up 7 offensive rebounds that would have stunned the lady Cats
it allowed them to get to the free throw line. I told the girls that we
were within striking distance but we should be the team up 5.
The reason why I say two teams because it wasn't even the
same team that showed up in the 2nd half, we were flat or maybe happy that we
were down 5, either way we didn't come out to play. First possession we
had we turned the ball over so a 5 pt lead goes to 7 then 9 within a
minute.
We haven't been the type of team that plays from behind, and
it showed on Tuesday. Weimar was just a more physical and
"poised" team, we committed to many fouls and we didn't make
"open" shots. We were just out played. They have a team
that has been playing together for some time and Jarmon
and Soto is a solid "duo".
We are still in the playoff chase we control our own
destiny. We are 3-3 in district with 2 of the 3 toughest teams at home.
As we say in the huddle, "it's time to ball".
Friday night we hosted SA Chaps a school from San Antonio in
the old gym and we played extremely well. We hosted the game in the old
gym and I am starting to believe we need to play more games in the "old
gym", our kids shoot the ball solid and we just play better. We came
out on firs as Kalli Mikulik
found her stroke back and played well. Ali Trojacek
keeps on rolling with a team high 64 made 3's so far this season. She is
on pace to blow away her record she set last year with 78 made 3's.
Ursula Bacon had a coming out party as she played well. We did play
without Trekeshelia Caine
who was under the weather we hope to have her back on Tuesday. It was a
very solid effort by all the players and let's hope we
can build on this as we have a "Must win at Hempstead on Tuesday
night".
