Lady Horns
are now 18-8 and 4-4 in district play with two tough games this week.
Tuesday @
East Bernard
Friday
Home vs. Hallettsville in a must win game.
Tuesday we
traveled to Hempstead and was defeated
58-47. We lead at halftime 18-15 but trailed in the 3rd. We got
down 17 at one point and closed the game to 40-48 with about 1:23 left in the
game. We didn't get some the most favorable calls but that is to be
expected on the road. The kids competed very well and played with
"class". Hempstead has a good
team we don't want to take anything away from them.
We had a 2
minute stretch we were lost our composure and they went on a 12-2 run.
When we have lost games this year it is because of a 2 minute "lull",
when you are a young team it happens. We are having another great year we
are just in a tough district. I told the kids before the season starts
that 1 of 4 teams would win 20 plus games and not go to the playoffs. We
are going to compete to the very end, we are still in
the race. We control our own destiny.

Friday
night... We beat Brazos 49-32 at home.
We didn't come out the way I would have liked but we won. As one of my
college coaches would say "it's better than losing". We pressed
to hard and wasn't able to run our man offense, we had great shots we just
didn't hit them. I don't think we were ever in danger of losing the game
you just want to put people away early, the more you let teams hang around the
more confidence they get. We allowed them to get a little
confidence. I was really pleased with our defense; we held them to 32
points but held ourselves to 49. This win gets us one step closer to
"murking up the playoff picture". We
have to take care of our own business and let's see how the district race will
finish.
